Description
John Mandleberg’s collected essays on the history of the Ancient and Accepted Rite and its 18th Degree, the ‘Rose Croix’.
Part One traces the establishment of the Supreme Council of the 33rd Degree for England and Wales: the birth of the higher degrees, Stephen Morin, Henry Francken and the Constitutions of 1762, the Grand Constitutions of 1786, degrees ‘beyond the Craft’ in England before 1813, and the early years of the Supreme Council under Henry Udall. Part Two examines the Eighteenth or ‘Rose Croix’ Degree itself, from its earlier rituals and the Third Point to the evolution of today’s English ritual. Part Three covers selected topics, including the Supreme Council’s expansion overseas, the Chapters in the West, the Rose Croix brethren at Bottoms and Rochdale, and an overview of the Supreme Council from 1845 to 2004.
